Steak Ramen

There’s something hard to beat about a bowl of Steak Ramen loaded with tender slices of beef, springy noodles, a rich savory broth, and all the toppings.

This is the kind of meal that feels comforting and indulgent at the same time. You get the deep umami flavor of the broth, the richness of a perfectly seared steak, and the texture of ramen noodles all in one bowl.

It also comes together faster than you might think, especially if you build the broth while the steak rests.

What will you need?

For the steak

  • NY strip or ribeye
  • salt
  • pepper
  • avocado oil
  • butter
  • fresh thyme
  • fresh rosemary
  • garlic

For the ramen

  • Buldak noodle package (noodles, seasoning, sauce)
  • egg yolk
  • Kewpie mayo

For Garnish

  • green onion
  • chili oil

For the marinated eggs

  • eggs
  • soy sauce
  • mirin
  • rice vinegar
  • water

How to make it

Make the eggs

Add the eggs to boiling water and boil for 6 minutes. Immediately add them to an ice bath and let chill for 5 minutes. Add the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and water to a jar and mix. Carefully peel the eggs and add them to the marinade. For best results, marinate overnight.

Cook the steak

Season all side of the steak with salt and pepper. Add the avocado oil to a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil starts to smoke, lay in the steak. Flip every minute until a crust forms. After a few flips, lower the heat to medium and add in the butter, garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Tilt the pan and baste the steak with the butter. Continue flipping and basting every minute until you reach your desired internal temperature. Add the steak to a resting tray and pour over the butter an herbs. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

Make the ramen

In a serving bowl add in the Buldak seasoning packet and sauce, an egg yolk, and the Kewpie mayo. Mix together until a sauce forms. Add the noodles to boiling water and cook according to directions on the packet. Ladle in about 1 cup of the noodle cooking water to the serving bowl with the sauce and whisk to combine. Remove the noodles from the pot and add them to the broth.

Serve

Add the sliced steak and into the broth. Slice open a marinated egg and add to the broth. Garnish with green onion and chili oil. Hope you enjoy!
